The first electric car ever made by every car maker
Almost every car manufacturer in the world has now committed itself to a future of building electric vehicles.
Clearly, this process had to start somewhere. In several cases, it began quite recently, in others over a century ago.
Here we list, in alphabetical order, the first EVs (excluding hybrids) produced by manufacturers in business today. Our choice of whether to pick production vehicles, prototypes or one-off specials is based on how interesting we think they are.
